A teapot that is easy to hold
Tokoname teapots are beautiful crafts with a deep level of skill, and Tokoname has produced craftsmen with excellent techniques. Each of these craftsmen had their own unique characteristics, and these characteristics were greatly reflected in the production of tea utensils. The government created the title of ``Traditional Craftsman'' in 1973 to honor their achievements and protect traditional cultural heritage. Furthermore, the Japan Traditional Craftsman's Association was established and exercises the authority to manage and certify traditional craftsmen, and there are 36 registered traditional craftsmen of Tokoname ware. They are still exploring the path of pottery and seeking further progress. ■Tokoname, one of Japan's six ancient kilns, is a pottery town rich in history. Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, located on the west coast of the Chita Peninsula facing Ise Bay, is the gateway to Chubu Centrair International Airport (Centrair), and is known nationwide as a pottery town due to its elongated topography stretching from north to south, 6 km from east to west and 16 km from north to south. Tokoname ware, which has a history of 1,000 years, is counted as one of the six oldest kilns in Japan. ● Speaking of Tokoname ware, it has such a long history that it is even called a teapot, and it has a reputation for ease of use. ● Name-yaki teapots are easy to hold and have a pleasant pouring effect. ● Tokoname-yaki teapots are widely trusted. One of the reasons is the sophistication of the tea strainer. The Tokoname-yaki teapot is proud of its traditional craftsmanship, created through friendly competition by craftsmen. It has passed the lead and cadmium inspection.
