Marugame Castle (Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture) is a famous castle with stone walls, also known as the Stone Castle. The stone wall is high, with four levels to the main enclosure, over 60 meters from the foot of the mountain to the top. The castle tower is approximately 15 meters high, has three floors, and is one of only 12 wooden castle towers left in Japan. It was completed in 1660 (Manji 3) and is the oldest remaining wooden castle tower in Shikoku. Karahafu and houndstooth gables are skillfully arranged, and on the north side there is a stone latticework and a lattice made of raw wood, creating an elaborate design.
