TOURNAMENT READY: This chess mat meets the proportion standards of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and the United States Chess Federation (USCF) for tournament play. Board measures 20 inches (50.8cm) with 2.25 inch squares (5.715cm) and 0.07 inch (1.52mm) thick. Fill in algebraic notation around the perimeter of the squares to simplify lessons and study past games. Perfect for chess clubs, park games, school and tournament games. This board fits chessmen with a diameter of 1.75-2 inches. PORTABLE & SLIP-PROOF: Although we recommend flattening or rolling up, this floppy chess board weighs only 9 ounces and easily folds for travel. It comes rolled up to fit into a standard chess bag. Made from the same material as mouse pads with a soft polyester blend surface and rubber backing. Corners lie flat. The rubber bottom grips the table or playing surface, making it perfect for outdoor play. BEAUTIFULLY WASHABLE: This beautiful mousepad chess mat is a version of the chess mat used by Bobby Fischer, with black outlines on the squares of the board. We recommend weighting this board, as the cushioning and thickness of the board will increase the life of the weight. To clean the board, wipe it with a damp cloth. The board can also be placed upside down on the top rack of an empty dishwasher and run through a wash cycle. Do not use high heat or a dryer. Allow to air dry. PERFECT FOR YOU: The benefits of chess are huge. Children who participate in chess enhance their critical thinking, problem solving, spatial awareness and social skills, making it a great addition to any classroom or home. BOBBY FISCHER: American-born prodigy and chess author Bobby Fischer is considered by many to be the greatest chess player of all time. At the age of 15, Fischer was the least successful grandmaster and least successful World Championship contender. He became the 11th World Chess Champion in 1972, playing against Boris Spassky of the USSR in a match publicized as the Cold War. Bobby Fischer continues to donate to chess throughout his life.
