Famous for their excellent infantry under Frederick the Great, Prussia fielded highly effective Prussian cavalry on the battlefields of 19th century Europe. Founded in 1813, the Landwehr Cavalry was a huge force of trained troops. It is equivalent to infantry. The Force was a large asset of the Prussian war machine, accounting for more than 30 regiments in the 100-day campaign. The Landwehr Cavalry wore a dark blue Litewka long coat with a collar and cuffs in local colors. The headgear is a mix of traditional felt caps and shakos – often painted with oilskin or white crosses. Reims His pennons were different, often having a uniform trim in white and half reflective, but all of Waterloo's Landwehr cavalry had replaced it with a standard black and white pennon. Landwehr cavalry in lance arms fought well on the field. Accounting for 40% of the Brusher cavalry at Waterloo – plenty of excuses for fielding this brave son of Prussia.
