Scale 1:56. Assembly and painting required. Glue and paint are not included. Contents: 2 plastic vehicles. Ages 12+.
Formed from the Western Desert Army in 1941, the British Eighth Army is comprised of the British Commonwealth of Nations - Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, India and South Africa. Following early successes against the Italians in North Africa, the 8th Army suddenly faced a new and more deadly enemy. Deutsches Afrika Korps was led by its mercurial commander, Erwin Rommel. Union and Axis forces were then pushed back hundreds of miles, and El-Aramin, Tobruk and Beda Fon reclaimed their territory in legendary battles. With the victory of the Union in North Africa, the battle soon enveloped Tunisia and the heart of Italy itself. This set includes: 2 universal carriers with metal crewmen, 12 plastic 8th Army infantry, stat cards, decals, damage markers, construction leaflets, and also a universal carrier. Also known as the Universal Carrier, it is a fully tracked weapons and personal carrier and one of the most distinctive and useful transport aircraft used by all sides during the war. This entry is also used for towing similar Loyd carriers and the pre-war design Carden-Loyd Tankette. The Infantry of the Eighth Army, known as the troops of the Seventh Army, not only fights the German and Italian enemy, but also struggles with the heat of the day, choking dust, and freezing cold nights. This is the nickname adopted by the 7th Army, a major element of the Western Desert Army.
