Our locomotives are powered by rubber bands and gear arrays rather than superheated steam, but otherwise their main mechanism looks and operates like a real steam engine. Close-acting asynchronous pistons and valves operate through a moving system of rods, linkages and cranks to the Locomotive drive wheels. Small touches like the retractable step ladder, Art Deco boiler trim, and open-up tinder with cold door remind you of a bygone era, as is the detailed engineer cab. UGEARS 460 Locomotive with Tinder is our most complex model. Thanks to our patented plywood joint design and rigorous engineering and quality control processes, hobbyists can complete this model in one go.
