The Ugears Aero Clock is a real working clock that you can build yourself, mount on your wall, wind up and watch the seconds, minutes and hours tick by. The Aero Clock is an ingenious puzzle and DIY clock mechanism unlike any other clock. The Ugears Clock uses gravity to pull down a weighted bag (you can fill the bag with sand or salt). The bag is then lifted with a pulley to wind the clock. As the weight slowly descends, it rotates a drive gear, which in turn rotates the escape wheel through a reducer. The clock features an adjustable weighted pendulum that interacts with the escape wheel through a stable scale on the escapement. By sliding the weights on the top and bottom of the pendulum, you can adjust the ticking of the clock to the nearest second. Did you know that before standardization, some clocks moved clockwise and others moved counterclockwise? In the role of the "cuckoo", the Ugears Aero Clock features a model hot air balloon. The suspended balloon descends rapidly when the hour is up and then rises again slowly for the next hour. As you build the AeroClock, a wooden wall clock with pendulum, you will learn the basic principles behind clockwork, how the stable influence of the swinging pendulum works via a locking anchor, and how to lock and unlock the escapement gears one second at a time, thereby regulating the (slow) descent of the weights as they drive both the power gear and the timekeeping gear. Model size: 220*47*16.5 cm Package size: 37.8*17*5 cm Number of parts: 320 Estimated assembly time: 11 hours
