Chess pieces are hand carved by our master craftsmen and made from the finest woods. Chess pieces are weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads for a beautiful finish. The Reykjavik II Chess Set is an exact reproduction of the chess set used by legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he won the 1972 World Chess Championship. The chess set will stand the test of time for years to come, as it lacks many of the embellishments commonly found on chess sets that can be damaged in the heat of battle (and rough use). For example, the chess set features reinforced pawn collars and an oversized Rook lamp for unparalleled durability. This chess board is 0.5" thick, has a satin finish, and beautiful molded edges. Chess Box Mahogany Premium Chess Box features green billiard cloth lining, split brass quarter hinges and lock & key. Premium Chess Boxes arrive with or without the House of Staunton logo laser etched into the box lid.
