The speed sensor is typically mounted on the front sprocket cover, with a 3-pole black speed sensor coupler located 20-40 cm (8"-16") from the sensor. Lift the fuel tank and remove the seat or side fairing to access the connector. Verification: 1. Separate the speed sensor connector (you may need to use a small flat head screwdriver to separate the connector). With the ignition on, rotate the rear wheels. The speedometer should read 0. If so, turn off the ignition and proceed to the next step. Otherwise, if the speedometer registers a non-zero speed, you did not disconnect the correct coupler and should look again. 2. After separating the speed sensor connector, plug in both male and female his 3-pole GFYSHIP harness connector. Make sure the connector is fully seated. 3. Locate the wire coming out of the signal generator (pickup coil/CKP sensor). 4. Connect the GFY black/green wire to this wire using the supplied red wire tap connector. Configuration: You need to setup the module after installation. When the ignition is turned on, the display will count backwards (from 6 to 1) to indicate that the memory has been cleared. - Use the stand to raise the rear wheel off the ground and start the engine in neutral. (If you don't have a stand, you can set up the unit while driving. Find a long, straight road with little traffic.) - The display will flash "1". Select 1st gear, release the clutch, and maintain RPM above idle speed. The display will flash faster while the unit is learning the gears. - Select 2nd speed when "2" appears on the display. Repeat this process until all gears (5 or 6) have been considered. The unit is programmed and must indicate gear correctly. Now, when the ignition is turned on, the display will count forward (1 to 6) to indicate full functionality.
