Run setup only when the engine is warm to ensure the idle speed is normal. Find a long, straight road with little traffic. A unit will not learn the same gear twice. This also allows you to easily downshift and stop during setup if necessary. Do not stare at the display and always pay attention to the road. Turn on the ignition. The display will count backwards (from 6 to 1) to indicate that the memory is clear. When "L" is flashing, put the engine in neutral and let it idle. When the display is flashing “1”, select 2nd speed. Release the clutch and watch normal driving. The display will flash faster while the unit is learning the gears. When the display shows "n" (next), select 2nd gear. Repeat this process until all gears have been considered. In top gear, wait until you see "o" (over) and the display stops flashing. The unit is now programmed and should display all gears correctly. Programmed and fully functional. Reset If some gear is not displaying correctly, reset the unit and set it up again. If you change gears (install a new front or rear sprocket) or install a speedometer (or other speedometer calibrator), you'll probably need to reset it. Then set it again. Power off the unit six times in a row while the display counts up and shows 3, 4, or 5. You can turn the display on and off by turning the ignition key on and off.
