Do not stare at the display and always pay attention to the road. Turn on the ignition. The display will count backwards (from 6 to 1) to indicate that the memory is being cleared. When "L" is flashing, put the engine in neutral and let it idle. When the display is flashing “1”, select 2nd speed. Release the clutch and watch normal riding. The display will flash rapidly while the unit is learning the gears. When the display shows "n" (next), select 2nd gear. Repeat this process until all gears are considered. In Top Gear, wait until you see "o" (over) and the display stops blinking. The unit is now programmed and should display all gears correctly.
