The display will count backwards (from 6 to 1) to indicate that the memory is being cleared. -When "L" is flashing, put the engine in neutral and let it idle. -"1" will flash on the display. Select first gear, release the clutch, and keep the RPMs above idle speed. The display will flash faster while the unit is learning the gears. -When "2" appears on the display, select 2nd speed. -Repeat this process until all gears have been considered (5 or 6). -The unit is programmed and must indicate gear correctly. -When the ignition is turned on, the display will count forward (1 to 6) to indicate full functionality.
