SOUTHERN ALL STARS Japanese rock band. It is affectionately known as "Southern". Formed by students from Aoyama Gakuin University, they debuted in 1978 with the song "Katte ni Sinbad." After the huge hit of ``Itoshi no Ellie'' the following year, they gained high support as one of Japan's leading bands. With a series of hits such as ``Tears of Kiss,'' ``Erotica Seven,'' and ``Ai no Kotodama,'' ``TSUNAMI'' leads the Japanese music world, boasting the highest single CD sales of all time and winning numerous awards including the Japan Record Award.
