Country of Manufacture: Japan Shigaraki ware is a pottery made in Shigaraki-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. It is counted as one of the six oldest kilns in Japan and is said to have a long history of over 1200 years. The name "hechimon" comes from a Shigaraki craftsman word used to mean "something strange." The various forms created by nature and the vessels have various expressions just like the individuality of each of us. This pottery is filled with the sincerity and playfulness of a master who values ``heterogeneity''. The hem is painted black and covered with a glossy pale mouse purple glaze mixed with sleet.
