Reproduction Bank 255 issued to C. G. Adams Shepard of Buffalo, New York, on the basis of Patent No. 15,085 issued on June 17, 1884. The Shepard Hardware Company also covered banks with patents in Englishand Canada in 1885. The character of the bank is a well-known mime character, portrayed by Clown, G.L. Fox. The fox sculpture is detailed in a star-spangled display of a banker who owned a "humpy dumty" bank and opened in New York City on May 10, 1868. It was advertised in the WAAS 1886 Selchow & Righter catalog for $8.00 per dozen.
