This is a prince and princess display by Kimura Kazuhide, one of Japan's leading Edo Kimekomi doll artists. The traditional design of red wool and gold screen features a cute doll with a round shape. The costume features simple designs of flowers such as peonies and chrysanthemums, giving it a classical feel while still giving it a somewhat modern look. The prince and princess stand on which the doll sits is also made in a round shape, allowing you to enjoy the compact cuteness unique to Kimekomi dolls. It can be displayed in a small space, so it can be used as a gift for a second child or as seasonal interior decor. On the day of the snake (Jōshi no Sekku) at the beginning of March, there was an event called "Nagashi Hina" where people transferred their misfortunes and disasters to human-shaped dolls made of grass, paper, and wood, and floated them down the river or into the sea. The current Hinamatsuri is a combination of this and the doll-playing (Hina-asobi) that is said to have been performed at the Imperial Court during the Heian period. Hina dolls are filled with wishes for newborn babies to avoid misfortune and grow up healthy.
