The Matsubara knife, a traditional craft of Nagasaki Prefecture, was created in 1474 by the Heike clan's swordsmith, Yukiyasu Nami no Hirayasu, whose descendants set up shop in Hizen Matsubara, where they forged swords at Hachiman Shrine. It also began with the creation of sickles for farmers. Since then, it is a masterpiece of a craftsman with a history of over 500 years.
