Green gables Cottage represents a typical medieval rural peasant dwelling, with one room at one end dominated by a fireplace on the ground floor. This single room housed the kitchen, dining room, living room and even livestock during the winter. The fireplace was central to the lives of the peasants within the house providing heat during the long winter months, it was where their humble food was prepared. Sleeping took place in the loft on straw mattresses. The attic was usually used for storage. The main structure of the cottage was made of wood, and the gaps between the timbers were filled with knitting and plastering. The ground floor has been made of compcompted earth or paved with roughthier peasants. Roofing was of thatch for the poorer peasants and needed replacing every few years or shingles made of wood or slate which was more permanent for more welloff peasants. There were no indoor plumbing or toilets, and water was drawn from nearby streams, lakes, or wells. I did. Compatible with all 28mm miniature figures.
