This chess set includes 2 extra knights, 2 extra pawns, and 2 extra queens. All 4 sides of the chess board are in algebraic notation. High power magnets are inserted into each chess piece, the power of the magnets passes through the wooden board attracted to the metal sheet, holding the chess pieces securely and not falling off during travel or play. The strong magnetic force ensures that the chess pieces will not fall off even if the box is held upside down. The chess board/box has double hinges on the back and a clasp on the front that holds the top and bottom parts of the box securely together when the chess box is folded. The complete chess board/box & chess pieces are coated with a 3 layer coating of catalytic lacquer in a satin finish to protect against spills, general wear and tear. The complete unit is handcrafted from wood. The chess pieces are hand carved by Staunton Design. A thin green soft velvet felt is applied to the bottom of the chess. All chess pieces fit into special inserts made to fit the shape of the chess pieces. The inserts are made of EP foam, specially made to protect the pieces.
