This is the Imperial Prince Standing Hina "Shunso Bina" by Yoshitoku Daiko, also known as "Yoshitoku, whose face is the life of Yoshitoku". The doll is dressed in a costume made of pure silk fabric called "shimekiri", which is often used in Noh costumes. Shimekiri is a fabric with a dyed pattern that is woven in places to look worn, and you can feel the beauty in each and every thread of the weaving. Please enjoy the flowing lines of the costume and the graceful silhouette that can only be seen in a standing pose. The folding screen has a large lattice window and is decorated with embroidery of a dancing crane, which has been revered by people as a bird of good fortune. The red and white plum blossoms in the flower basket design on the left and right are also cute. This is the perfect item for Hina dolls, which wish for the healthy growth and future happiness of children. On the day of the snake (Jōshi no Sekku) at the beginning of March, there was an event called "Nagashi Hina" where people would transfer their misfortunes and disasters to human-shaped dolls made of grass, paper, or wood and let them float down the river or sea. This event was combined with the doll play (Hina-asobi) that is said to have been performed at the Imperial Court during the Heian period to form the current "Hinamatsuri". Hina dolls are filled with the wish that newborn children will avoid misfortune and grow up healthy. Since each doll is handmade, there may be some changes in the specifications of the craftsmanship, such as the pattern of the kimono and the tools. Please note in advance.
