I could really take advantage of the bird in all its finery, from the glorious shimmering colours on the body to the wonderful graphic shape in the tail feathers. I wanted to make sure that every inch of space was filled with interest and with my love of pattern and texture that wasn't diffilt. I have used paint, ink, oil pastels and pencils to make up the hundreds of sample papers, which were then cut and paste together to make the final images. The addition of the gold foil takes the puzzle to additional a layer of opulence to complete the image of a glorious and dazzling bird."
