French Middle & Old Guard

Napoleon created the Imperial Guard as a military unit within the army. Access to the sacred ranks was the dream of many French soldiers. Better pay, food, uniforms, and the swagger that carried them throughout Europe. It was a post of great honor, and they worshipped the Emperor. They were far from palace guards, but their long and active service had cracked the soldiers they could rely on to get the job done. This plastic set contains enough troops to fight three Guards Battalions (80 soldiers each) with their mounted officers. The Old Guard can be recognized by the brass plate on the front of their bearskin hats and the rear patch on it. The Middle Guard's bearskins do not come with brass plates or rear patches, so they can be painted to look like fur. I've added some heads. Those who want to differentiate their units even more can, although it is not necessary, replace them with shakos or bonnets to tell the poor Middle Guard. Also included are Marines (30 soldiers) and Guards Engineers (30 soldiers). These add even more color and variety to the French army. To cover the Guards in Napoleon's attack he manned "His Lovely Daughters", manned by excellent gunners and able to reach farther than most Allied guns; a truly dangerous enemy...
