Backgammon Set for Adults. Crqazy Games Backgammon Set is one of the oldest board games. Its history can be traced back almost 5,000 years to archaeological discoveries in Mesopotamia. It is a two-player game, in which each player has 15 pieces (men's checkers) that move among 24 triangles (points) according to the roll of two dice. The object of the game is to be the first to bear and remove all 15 checkers from the board. Backgammon is a member of the table family and is one of the oldest classes of board games. Backgammon involves a combination of strategy and luck (because of the rolling of the dice). While the dice may determine the outcome of one game, better players accumulate better records over a series of many games. With each roll of the dice, players must choose from numerous options for moving their checkers and anticipate possible recoil moves by their opponents. The optional use of a doubling cube allows players to raise the stakes during the game. Setup On each side of the board there are 12 long triangular tracks called points. The points form a continuous horseshoe-shaped track and are numbered from 1 to 24. In the most commonly used setup, each player starts with 15 chips, two placed on the 24 point, three on the 8 point, and five on the 13 and 6 points. The two players move their chips in opposite directions, from the 24 point to the 1 point. Points 1-6 are called the home board or inner board, and points 7-12 are called the outer board. The 7 point is called the bar point, and the 13 point is called the midpoint. Usually, the 5 points of each player are called the "golden points".
