COMP Cams offers a complete line of valve stem seals, from umbrella seals to positive stop seals. These seals prevent unwanted oil from entering the combustion chamber through the valve guide clearance. Umbrella seals are typically used when using springs with a larger diameter than the stock, and positive stop seals are used in the case of double springs. This umbrella seal requires no machining, but the seal does require disassembling the head and machining the top of the guide with a special .530 diameter cutter. Whenever you plan on overhauling your engine or replacing your cams, don't forget your valve seals.
