Catalinbread Carbide Distortion (CAT CARB)

The Carbide is a crushing distortion that boosts certain frequency bands (three of them to be exact) and loads of volume. Officially getting this "chainsaw sound" consists of plugging into a Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal and maxing out all four knobs. Our Carbide builds on this by tweaking most of the distortion circuitry for maximum crunch and swoosh. Instead of giving you a subtle blend control, the Carbide splits the signal into two paths. One path goes to a powerful clean boost specifically configured for downtuned instruments, and the other goes to your distortion gear. Each path is given its own volume knob and then mixed in parallel so you can tweak just the right amount of dirt. The Emphasis control tightens up the extreme low end while cutting the treble, making the boosted frequency bands jump out of the mix.
