To celebrate Barbie's 50th anniversary, popular dolls and outfits from six eras of Barbie's history are being reprinted. On March 9, 1959, the #1 Barbie was introduced at the New York Toy Fair wearing a black and white striped swimsuit, black open-toed high heels, and a ponytail. It became an instant hit upon its debut. This is the most faithful reproduction to the original to date, even recreating the holes in the feet that were necessary for the early doll stands. This special set also includes a reproduction of the popular outfit #982 Solo in The Spotlight (1960), a reprinted collector's booklet, and a portrait card.
