AUTOart 1/18 scale, composite die-cast model. The Audi R8 LMS 2016, which also competes in the GT300 class of SUPER GT and is familiar to Japanese race fans, is a new racing car developed in accordance with the new GT3 regulations introduced by the FIA in 2016. Due to vehicle regulations, the drive system was changed from the full-time 4WD of the base commercial vehicle "R8" to rear-wheel drive. The naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine mounted in the mid-range produces a maximum output of 585 PS. In accordance with the new regulations, collision safety has been greatly improved, and much of the body uses CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced resin), achieving a weight reduction of 25 kg compared to the previous model. In addition, its aerodynamic performance has been improved, greatly increasing its combat power. In its debut race, the Nürburgring 24 Hour Race, held in May 2015, it immediately won its class and overall victory.
