Arita ware is a type of pottery made mainly in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, and was also called Imari ware because it was shipped from Imari Port. Arita Town in Saga Prefecture is one of Japan's leading pottery towns with a 400-year tradition. Keizan Kiln maintains the good traditions of Arita ware, such as ``hand-painting'' and ``a sophisticated harmony of painting and red painting,'' while aiming to create tableware where the food is the main character. Tako-Karakusa is a type of arabesque pattern. Leaves are simply attached to the outside of the spiral vine. It is called the octopus arabesque pattern because it resembles the suction cups of an octopus's feet. The stepped surface makes it non-slip and easy to hold. As it is handmade, there may be slight differences in size, color, etc.
