Nanbu ironware is a craft from Iwate Prefecture that has a history of about 400 years since the Edo-Kanei era. Since its founding in 1902, Iwachu has been highly praised not only in Japan but also overseas as a Nambu ironware manufacturer that preserves traditional techniques and creates new traditions. It has excellent heat storage properties, heats up unevenly, and brings out the natural goodness of the food. The grooves allow excess oil to drip off, resulting in beautiful grill marks. Received the 2011 Good Design Award. Pro Arte series designed by Finnish designer Tauno Taruna.
