Production of Edo Kiriko began at the end of the Edo period. Edo Kiriko was originally a type of glasswork in which cut glass was applied to transparent soda glass and finished with handrails and polishing. After the Meiji period, due to the disappearance of Satsuma Kiriko, colored glass techniques and materials began to be used in the Edo period as well, but the colored glass layers were thin and vivid.
