It is made in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture using the ``Yosegi Zaiku'' technique that has been passed down since the Edo period, and is characterized by its beautiful grain pattern that takes advantage of the characteristics of natural wood, as well as its minimal deformation due to water and moisture. Each piece is made by hand by skilled craftsmen using a secret bonding technique that allows a single board of marquetry to be shaped into a vessel, and the latest painting methods to protect the wooden surface. It is very different from foreign manufacturing methods, which waste more wood by hollowing out blocks of wood. These products are made with the enthusiasm and skill of craftsmen who do not want to waste precious natural wood.
