Its origin is said to be that there were many potteries including Rokubei Shimizu and Dohachi Takahashi in the Gojozaka area, which is the approach to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Many of the pottery are made using the overglaze technique, in which overglazing is applied after firing, and each pottery is characterized by its strong individuality. There is a beautiful landscape painting inside. It takes a high level of skill to draw this much on the inside of the narrow soba chiyoguchi. It's also attractive because it's lighter than it looks and easy to hold. Because it is handmade, the color, size, etc. may vary slightly.
