This is a plastic model of Special Hobby's ``1/48 British Fairey Firefly Mk.4/5 Carrier Fighter''. Royal Navy policy required carrier-based fighters to be two-seat fighters with a navigator on board. It was developed by Fairey as a successor to the previous Fulmar. Equipped with Youngman flaps to improve takeoff and landing performance as a carrier-based aircraft, production of the aircraft, which was equipped with a Griffon engine, began production in 1942 and entered combat in 1944. It remained in use for several years after the war, and was used outside of Britain.
