The VR-4 grade is the sportiest grade of the Galant, with a V62500cc twin-turbo engine and full-time 4WD. At the time, the Galant was the first car in the world to be equipped with a gasoline direct injection engine called the GDI engine. The design has been changed from the previous model, mainly around the front. Sales in Japan ended in 2005, bringing an end to a long history of 36 years since the first generation.
