In the Edo period, it was called Imari ware, and in the Meiji era, it was also called Arita ware, based on the location where it was shipped. Hasami-cho, Nagasaki Prefecture, is adjacent to Arita-cho, Saga Prefecture, and Hasami-yaki, like Arita-yaki, has a tradition of over 400 years.
