Designer’s messageThis is an aluminum wall clock made using sand casting technology developed as a local industry in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. We tried to create a design that is easy to read and has a strong presence. By intentionally adopting details that would be difficult with normal sand casting, such as a large, smooth surface and a thin, deep shape that continues from the outer periphery to the index, we were conscious of the limits of technology and design expression. . In addition, the sandblasted appearance of the cast surface makes it look good even when hung on a wall with a strong texture (such as exposed concrete). Furthermore, we tried to bring out the maximum appeal of the material as a sand cast aluminum product by polishing the edges to create a contrast with the cast surface. Shin Asaka
