Stenciling is fun for the whole family, but be careful it can be addictive. HOW TO USE STENCIL Almost any paint can be used to stencil, but the two most popular types are acrylic and dry brush oil. PREPARATION Always make sure the surface you are going to stencil on is clean and properly prepared with no peeling paint. INSTRUCTIONS Lightly spray the back of the stencil with spray adhesive and place the stencil over the chalk line or registration mark. PAINT: Dip a brush or sponge into the paint and wipe most of it off with a paper towel. Too much paint will bleed through the back of the stencil and give your pattern a very rugged edge. Apply paint from top to bottom. Start on the outside of each stencil cutout and work your way towards the center. CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Wash your stencils often with warm, soapy water, especially when changing colors. Don't forget to check the paint on the back of the stencil. To remove oil paint and adhesive from stencils and brushes, soak them in stenpentine for a few minutes.
