Using laser cut mylar film and paint; even beginners can easily produce very high quality stencil work on furniture, walls, floors, fabric, windows and almost any other flat surface. Stenciling is fun for the whole family, but be careful it can be very addictive. HOW TO USE A STENCIL Almost any paint can be used to stencil, but the two most popular types are acrylic and dry brush oil. PREPARATION Clean the surface you will be stenciling on and properly prepare it with no peeling paint. INSTRUCTIONS Lightly spray the back of the stencil with spray adhesive and place the stencil over the chalk line or registration mark. PAINT: Dip a brush or sponge into the paint and wipe most of it off with a paper towel. Too much paint will bleed through the back of the stencil and give the pattern very jagged edges. Apply paint using an up and down stippling motion, starting on the outside of each stencil cutout and working your way to the center. CLEAN UP: Wash stencils frequently with warm, soapy water, especially when changing colors. Don't forget to check the paint on the back of the stencil. To remove oil paint or glue from stencils and brushes, soak them in turpentine for a few minutes.
