There are 8 loops for the duvet cover, so you don't have to worry about the duvet shifting. The side fabric has been treated with antibacterial treatment to suppress the growth of bacteria on the fibers, making it hygienic. The odor will fade as you use it, but if you are concerned about it, you can reduce the odor by pressing the futon tightly to let the air out and replacing it with fresh air.
